spark advance?

Salute All<br />Noticed that my link rod that attaches to the throttle arm for spark advance is missing! wanted to make a new one with my Z bender and some alluminum stock does any one know the length of the spark advance link rod? my engine is a 1971 60HP Johnson its a hydro electric serial # Evinrude 60173.<br />2nd question my boat doesnt have a rpm guage wanted to get one is it possible to hook one in and where on the juction bridge would it be hooked it #'s 1-10<br />Thanks All!!

Can't help with the rod, never measured one before, but we can help with the tach. There should be a gray colored wire in the harness that goes to the front. Don't know your set up but the gray wire is the tach signal. Hook this up to the tach lug marked "SIG". The lug marked "IGN" is where a 12V source is to be connected. This usually is off the ignition switch. There should also be a lug marked "GRN". This is where a ground lead will be connected.<br /><br />Hope that helped a little.
