I have never carried a spare prop, but I have been advised more than once that it's a good idea to carry a prop and the tools to swap it out.
For my old Johnson 90, it's not a big expense and I use aluminum props.
If I smashed into the rocks like my buddy did last week, I don't know if I could have changed it. He got the boat to a cottage dock but the waves were 3 feet high as it was windy. Turns out his lower end is damaged anyway.
I guess if I was going up north it would be a good idea as we could change it in the camp and keep on fishing.
