Hello All,

First, I have the VP SX drive, but I put OMC in the title because of some compatibility.

Don pointed out, correctly, that I may have a leaking seal on one of my trim cylinders.
Volvo sells that end seal alone for about $2, but I have read many posts about OMC making
a complete rebuild kit w/ all the seals included for about $30, that does both cylinders.

So if my end seal is bad, should I just replace that, or since I have to disassemble the
cylinder, should I just go ahead and get a full rebuild kit?

If so, which one? I've had a hard time isolating the right OMC-to-VP crossover parts kit
for my exact drive. There are tons at marine stores for the $30, and a guy on fleaxxbay
that wants $145 for what looks like the exact same kit, including a "free" wrench.

And while we're at it, anyone know the exact spanner wrench pin spacing to disassemble the
cylinder, as I can make up the wrench cheaply and accurately.

Thanks Much!!

The kits on Ebay are different than the kits you pick up for around $35 per cylinder. The kits for $35 have a simple o-ring in place of a hydraulic rod seal. These are the main problem with these cylinders and why they continue to fail.

The kits on Ebay have a computer sized HPU hydraulic rod seal. Also the wiper seals are double acting and the piston sealing rings have been redesigned into a 1 piece HPU bi-directional sealing ring.

Big difference between the OEM components that continue to fail and the kit on Ebay. I know from experience.

As for the wrench. Head over to harbor freight. $5

Thanks for the tip.
I went to look at the OMC kit at the local place; it was out of stock.
I just wanted to see what all was actually in it.
I see the ebay kits cover both cylinders, so maybe not a bad idea after all.
As for the wrench, I just went ahead and made one....

Thanks Again.
