space between stringers - 21' center console

Hey guys.
I'm doing a rebuild of my starcraft 21' center console - pretty much from the hull up. I don't have it torn apart yet - but I found a deal on a new below decks gas tank, but I'm not sure it will fit. It's a 42 gallon tank - 21" wide, 7 1/2" deep at the V, 4 1/2" deep at the sides - 92" long. Any ideas? Thanks!

were's projecthog when you need him?
have a islander but i'm pretty sure the hulls are the same.
i replaced the floor as well as all wood.
personally i think that's going to be a tight fit.
keep in mind you will be displacing floatation and must find a replacement spot.

yeah, forgot to mention the year. It's an '85.

Alumni, if it fits at all, I'd expect it to be pretty tight, too. The obvious answer here is to tear the boat down before I start buying parts, which I know I must do. It's just so cold up here right now!

Don't buy a tank until the floor is up.I did my 77 21' mariner and had a hard time getting a tank to fit under the floor.The angle of the "V" and the height of the support ribs does not leave alot of room.If I remember it was around 28" wide and about 10" deep.It might sound like a lot but you need to have 2-3" clearance for your hose connections also the farther forward it is it gets deeper because of hull shape.The only tank I could find without spending a ton of money was a 22 gal that is set forward of the console.Moeller might have 40 I think that comes close.If you need better sizes let me know I can jump under the cover and get some.When I put my console in I cut out the floor beneath the console so I can see the bilge and have that much more space to store stuff.
