I took my wife out fishing Friday, down to Montegut La. We fished for 3-4 hours, caught our limits (5 per person per day, 1 over 27") and didnt have a fish under 20".
We threw the castnet for 30 minutes and picked up about 25lbs. of 5-10 count shrimp. Things are looking up with the arrival of the cool fronts!!!!
I have pics but havent uploaded em yet. Dave

We didn't do as well. Went to Bay Canardgris behind Golden Meadow. It was so windy we couldn't keep the boat in position. We would drive up to where the gulls were and throw anchor to have the wind push the boat back. There were several other boats in the area having the same problem. People were cathing a few speckled trout.

Where abouts in La. are ya? Im in Chauvin, below Houma.
For me to hook up the boat, to the time of the first cast is less than 30 minutes....not that Im bragging:D:p

If you have Google Earth and can tell me how to show you my markers I have placed...I can show you quite a few good fishing spots. The main ones are on levees that your kids can run around on if they get bored.

I live on the Northshore but grew up in Galliano. My family used to own a camp along Bayou Tete L'ourse. I try to stay in the areas I know. Like you said once the cold fronts come in the tides will start dropping and the fish will be a little easier to find. My wife and I were talking about bringing my little girl and her cousins fishing in an area where we would not have to take a boat. I have been to Chauvin and all the way down the road to the Coco Marina while working in college but never fished there. Have google earth on my computer and any locations would be appreciated.

Re: South La. Fishing

When you pull up the area on google earth look at the tool bar directley above it. There will be an i-con of a thumbtack. Click on the icon and then drag it to the location. It will give map coordinates and a box will appear to title it and give a description. The tack is large so position it to the side of the area you are marking. You can then e-mail it by clicking on the e-mail icon on the same tool bar. That is the only way I know of to mark an are on google earth and send. If I'm wrong or there is a better way hopefully someone will respond.

Specks are running in the south east corner of The Pen (Lafitte) and adjacent canals/bayous!
