Source for power trim switch on older Evinrudes?

The power trim on the throttle handle finally gave it up on my old 1980 70hp Evinrude.

Relay is fine, trim functions just fine if I jumper the wires.

The OEMS on these are basically gone, or $300, so I tried one of the aftermarket cheesebay switches (the one with the bright blue rocker switch).

Switch quit working in the middle of me installing it. So I'm not ordering another.

Can anyone recommend a quality switch?

If it doesn't fit the handle perfectly I intend to use an epoxy Putty stick to hold it in place, similar to how some people use shims on the back.

The older omc control box doesn't have replacement trim switches?

That's troubling. I was told BRP was going to maintain parts.

Another option is to buy an older red plug control box used and swipe the switch off it.

I sold a pretty good one for $75.00 last spring but I see on eBay they are trending for much more. I think the availability on these has gone down. Craigslist should be a cheaper option.

Have a spare for parts and such might come in handy.

I foresee parts for all this stuff to get harder to acquire and pricer to pay.

I hope you are correct in that the market for used parts will improve for the seller.----Some have paid to store / hide parts for years.

Well they might want to start listing them now. eBay parts have climbed quite a bit and eBay has a world wide audience.

Might be time to open your barn to all of your old parts....fortunes could be made!
