source for driveshaft Yamaha 4 HP 1996 ??

I am looking to replace the broken driveshaft of a 1996 Yamaha 4 HP outboard model # L351891X. The Yamaha website did not seem to list parts . Are there salvage yards or generic replacement parts as in the auto industry or is this strictly a dealer only item . An initial phone call to a Yamaha dealer gave a ballpark price of $100 --the part looks to be worth $15 -- steel rod with splines cut into one end . Is a machine shop a likely source ?
