it is a 90 non injected with red stator the readings i got is as follows with ohm meter set at 2000k green-white to white-green was .01.
then trigger was ground on white-black first was brown finally set on 800
then purple was .01 then white was.01.The fly wheel, stator, switch box was replaced in 2007 my problem is no spark on the #1 cyl just dont want to waste anymore money!!also switched coils no help.A very BIG thanks to all

Re: soslow50 sport jet

You need to retest , be sure to unplug all leads when testing .
Stator should be between 500 and 700 ohms green/white to white/green
Trigger should be tested with black lead hooked to white/black then red to brown , white , and purple individually and they should read 1100-1400 ohms
I really think you have a bad trigger based on what you posted and no spark on one cylinder but the .01 reading makes no sense for a new stator . Please retest and repost results.

thanks kend301 the stator checked out 650 ohms, ordered the trigger today will let you know how things go.By the way what is the mixxing ratio for this motor

Re: soslow50 sport jet

Good deal , The proper mix is 50:1 for these motors , I use 375 ml of oil for every 5 gals of gas and some stabil ethanol treatment.

A thousand thanks from a million miles away!!!I just love how you can fix these boats from a computer.Your the man!

kend301 took it back out today,no power.Checked spark and sure as the world,no spark on number 3 this time.Last time it was number 1,just wondering what is causing the trigger to go bad.It has less than 3 hours since the trigger was replaced. It would be the trigger again?

Re: soslow50 sport jet

hate to say this but re ohm the trigger and stator , if they ohm good swap the coil on the bad cylinder with one that is sparking and see if the no spark moves to the cylinder you put that coil on. If it does replace the coil .

I tried the coil swap already no go.What would cause the trigger to go bad?

trigger was 882 purple 893 brown white nothing then 887 then nothing?
stator 650.I remember you saying that they should be 1100to1400 ohms.
have a new trigger on way they are going to warranty it.But is there something that causes these to go out? Is there a way to check the
voltage reg. Thanks as always jess

Re: soslow50 sport jet

Get the new trigger , OHM it before you put it in , Ohm it after you hook it up , unhook it and re OHM , this is the only way to see if you have a feedback problem . If all the ohm readings are in spec hook it up and crank the boat , if not , Post readings and we can go from there

Re: soslow50 sport jet

dear kend301 im back boating season just "started" here in wisconsin. well after sitting all winter the sport jet
has no spark at all.Did the basics ohm on trigger is 893,895,893 these are the same readings when i took it out of box new.I sent one back already cause it wasn't 1100-1400.and it ran with this setup.stator is at 650 ohms.this has the red stator. i checked the red wires out of voltage reg.one has constant 12v-the other is 12v while cranking.just to test
ing switch. just dont understand why to unplug switch box and test for spark but did it.disconected kill switch tried with wires not touching and touching nothing. also pulled flywheel just to look for lose magnets or rust.also checked all grounds and they are showing good...Any IDEAS!!!! i would love to spend 50 dollars on a manual can't find one for this boat 94 euroline cyclone

Re: soslow50 sport jet

Not sure on your boat/year, but here are some things to try.

Make sure battery has a good charge. Even if the engine cranks there may not be enough voltage to fire the ignition system.

I have a kill switch/lanyard that will ground out the engine...make sure it is not switched/flipped. It will still crank but no spark.

The kill circuit can be isolated (going from memory here) by first disconnecting the black/yellow wire at the Rev Limiter and then checking for spark.

The second isolation of the kill circuit is a black/yellow at the switch box. Disconnect and check for spark.

I would also check the "M" post on your key switch for 12V while key is in the 'On/Run' position.

Hope this helps, going from last season's memory!

Re: soslow50 sport jet

Thank you sir, i will definatly do all that.is there anyone who might have a wiring diagram
For these motors.I really feel it is something small. It ran when i turned it off.It has the new red stator, switich box, flywheel and the two electric boxes next to volt reg. So i shouldn't
have to worry about the normal problems that seem to be with motors??The battery is charged and i did unplug the wires under dash for kill switch test? Also with wires touching! i have tried all in sticky no help, is there any power wires i need to be looking for besides the m on key switch. Also any other fuses besides the on a top volt reg?

Re: soslow50 sport jet

Not sure about the 'wires under the dash'. From my recollection, there is a Black/Yellow wire going to the rev limiter on the side of the engine that should be disconnected then check for spark. The second is located at the switch box (where the blue wire runs from the candy-bar sized adapter from the stator). This is the box that also has wires running to the coils- it should have a Black/Yellow also...this is the main disconnect for the kill circuit. Disconnect and check for spark.

Also sent you a pm.
