Sorry to ask same questions 25hp to 30hp

I did a search function on here and read all the results. I am kinda confused. I have a 1994 25hp Nissan electric start (NS25C). I know I have to remove the card and change the gasket behind it to the 30hp one (I plan on using the one I have and using a sharp blade to cut the hole to match the throat size). I have seen on here that I also have to change the timing and remove a block in the tiller handle? I have also seen on here that all I have to change is the gasket. So, which is it? Gasket only, gasket and timing or gasket, timing and block in the tiller? Thanks for all the help folks!

I called all the marine places around here to see if they could do this for me. All said they could, but the are on at least a 2 week wait. One of them told me to just change the gasket and take a stop out of the tiller handle. Can someone please give me a clear answer on this. I will do it myself. I have worked on many an engine, so i am confident I can do it. I just need the proper direction. I am trying to find a manual for it, but I have not found any of the factory service manuals here. All have to order and wait on it for a couple of weeks. A PDF of the page or pages in the manual would be real helpful. Thanks.

You see, there are so many mods you can do to this engine that the possibility are endless .... The 3 easy and cheap mods to get a little more performance is basically getting the gasket changed, advancing the timing and removing the block .... If you wanto go further spend money and make a race motor out of it you can change the jets, change reeds, cut exhaust, shave head etc etc .....

I don't want to do anything to damage the motor or race it. It is for a fishing boat. Just wanted to get it to put out 30hp instead of 25. So, I will be changing the gasket, and looking at the timing. Here I am confused again. It is a 94 2 stroke. Some post say advance it 2 degrees, some say 5 degrees. Which is it? I am assuming this block is in the tiller handle. Where exactly is it in there?
