My Son-in-law, makes me wonder what is really upstairs there. We got my 20' Stingray running good and decided we would take it out. He says he will put the plug in and drive it off the trailer. We launched and everthing checked out fine. This 1967 boat has a couple of small leaks, but nothing serious. I have a float switch on the bilge pump to fix the problem. We tied the boat up to the cabin cruiser for several hours while we got something to eat. Decided we would take the Stingray back out for some tubing when I noticed that there was quiet a bit of water in the bilge. Pump is running but its not going down. The bilge is superclean, no debris or anything to clog up the pump. Further checking found the problem. Son-in-law put a plug in the outlet for the bilge. He thought it was for the bait well. Good thing we didn't have any bait because they would have been dry as can be. I had to explain to him that just because a plug fits in the hole doesn't mean it belongs there. Maybe that is something I need to tell my teenage son!

Re: Son-in-law learns lesson

I've always have heard that "Time Heals All Wounds", well when it comes to the Son-in-law, its a fact. I had just finished changing condenser coils on a Hoshizaki ice machine. Had everything hooked up to test it out, but I didn't have the cover on the side of it. Plugged it in and off she went just a purring away almost like a new one. Turned my back for just a minuet and I hear a loud clang and then no condenser fan motor running. I quickly turn around and there is guess who pulling his thumb out between the fan blade and shroud. You know that ice machine dropped about 12, 20 pound batches of ice while we was getting him stiched up! Time does heal all wounds. He leaned another lesson the hard way. I hope he makes it to his 33rd birthday. I don't know how he has made it this long. At least I have a bunch more hair on my head than he does. By the end of a sunny day fishing the top of his head looks like a Japanese Flag!
