Well, I couldn't decide where to put this but the trailering section seemed the most appropriate.
A little background:
Tow Vehicle = 2004 Jeep GC 4.7L HO (towing capacity = 6800lbs)
Boat = 22' 10" Wellcraft - Nada lists at 3900lbs

On Saturday I was waiting to pull my load my boat up around 6pm, and as I'm awaiting my turn I see a Chevy avalanche spin up the ramp with 2 jet skis in the trailer. I thought that was wierd since jet skis don't weigh too much. So the next guy backs down with his Chevy Tahoe and proceeds to load his boat. While he's doing this, my trailer has been parked in the water so I proceed to trailer my boat. As I'm getting mine hitched onto the trailer the guys in the Tahoe have theirs ready to pull out. Well the guy proceeds to pull up the ramp spinning the back tires. So he stops and puts it in 4wd (I assume) and proceeds to pull out. While he's doing that, one guy on the back laughs and says loudly (loud enough for me to hear anyway) that he wants to see "..that Jeep pull that boat out of the water..".

Well, unfortunate that he didn't get to stick around as I pulled my boat easily out of the water with the Jeep. :D (His ride had already pulled away from the ramp and into the parking lot)

Now, I know my Jeep is aways 4wd but it still made me feel great :D

Well, I just re-read my story and had to laugh at my writing... "Pull my load my boat up..." Jeez thats just bad LOL

Anyway, I like to trout fish and that Jeep comes in handy on old logging / utility roads around crooked mountain streams....Though I do get some funny looks telling people about taking that Jeep Overland through the woods....But hey, I've got 4wd, I'll be darned if I'm not going to use it :D

I refuse to be one of those yuppies who buys a SUV and keeps it on pavement ;)

Quite often i trailer my 16 foot crestliner with our Dodge grand Caravan - 3.3L FWD it works great on nearly all the ramps i use - but one at my buddies private canal. Last fall i was launching the boat, and i buried the van up to the rim trying to pull the empty trailer out.

usually i launch there with my 98 jeep cherokee sport, it trails it just fine, and launches better. Some people dont know what the jeep can do - i just laugh. I have taken my old wrangler on one of those jeep jamborees, it is amazing what a cherokee, or grand cherokee can do - totally stock.

My parents had a 2000 cherokee sport and they used to tow a 23 foot travel trailer all over the north east (then they decided to get a bigger truck) no problems, lots of torque and power with the 4.0L engine.

this weekend i will be towing my boat with the van 4 hours each way to Lake Chautauqua in western NY, i just greased the bearing buddies, and i hope there are no problems.

enjoy
