Hi Guys,

I am trying to put together a 1985 75hp mercury OB that somebody else took apart. I can not figure out where the manual choke wire goes, and why there is a big gap at the bottom of the cage that surrounds the flywheel towards the bck of the motor.

Here are some pictures :

The cage will sit flush at the front but not the back

The manual choke wire (Merc used copper wire and ring terminals, for some reason), connects the choke lever to the black plastic knob directly above it. The knob is a friction fit into rubber. You pull up on it to choke.

The rear cowling support (you call it a cage), has four 5/16" bolts to connect it to the lower cowling. There should not be a gap. Look around the lower cowling for the tool, bolt or spark plug that you dropped in there.
