I would like to repair the brake line where it got crushed but cannot even get the cap off. Can someone confirm that the cap should just turn counter clockwise to remove? I can't budge it. It's a late 80'S EZ Loader.

had the same set-up at one time and the same problem with the cap. I replaced the actuator...... my cap was more of a pop on pop off cap(pull up and turn to the left) sometime a screwdriver helped... I admit sometimes its was a pain in the butt

Why bother. It hasn't been functional for ages so the master cylinder is junk anyway. Cut the line, remove the master cylinder or if you prefer, the entire coupler. New line will need to be installed.

Re: Some help with my trailer brakes

Well I finally just put the channel lock on it and got it spin off.

Empty and rusty.

Iboats has replacements for close to $200, and I could most likely purchase something similar locally. If the master cylinder is shot and rusty, wouldn't it be probable that the wheel cylinders are bad as well as the old brake lines?

Has anyone replaced only the master cylinder on one of these with any success?

Thanks for all the feedback!!

A new master cylinder is not an issue as to whether it works or not. The coupler and dampener (the shock absorber if it has one), the lines and wheel cylinders must all be in good condition for everything to work properly. The rust and scale has been forced downstream to the wheel cylinders so yes -- they are toast as well.
