Some Fish Pics

Don't know too much about boats, but know my way around a fishing pole so thought I would share some of our catches from this year. We do our shark fishing from the beach hence the large reels. Hope to get into some more species when I get our boat in the water. All sharks we catch are released, some are tagged. The tarpon in the pic is tagged so it is legal to have out of the water. Most of the sharks were from a catch and release tournament our team won with the 13' hammer pictured.

Thanks guys! We fish South West Florida beaches, and that was the smallest jew we got this year. In Boca Grande they usually run 3 to 400lbs on average. Don't have many pics of them because they're a nuisance for us chewing our shark baits up. Our biggest this year was 73 inches.

This was pretty big one thats my foot and I wear a 12 and a half shoe

They are here too you can catch them, you just cant take them out of the water all the way. They've been banned since the 80's, and are def not in short numbers anymore. They love to take species away here, but never give them back unfortunately

Those are some nice catches. How do you get your bait out with those reels? The kayak? We used to use garbage bags blown up as a bobber and when the bag reaches our fishing spot....we would shoot them with a rifle. Those days are long over.:facepalm:

Thanks again! Yea one person harnessed into the rod, and another paddles it out then drops it. Preferably without being impaled by a hook or rolled over lol.

looks like Dog Beach in Bonita where you caught the sharks, if it isn't try there! all through my high school years we fished dog beach catching shark after shark,Bulls, black tip , hammerheads, lemon.......you could walk from one side of the pass to the other on their backs they were so thick. nice pics! are you from the bonita area? we probably have run in to eachouther at one time or a nother.

We are in the Englewood area. No we can't fish without a license here, although shorebound licenses are only a couple dollars. I would love to shark fish in your area. No better test for my gear than a big white lol

Kyd, check out the 18'er seen off our coast yesterday. Its in the dockside chat forum. You might need a sand anchor hooked to your harness or backside, to catch a "big white' off the beach LOL.

I understand the enjoyment of catching fish. But posting these pics are only going to be used against the fisherman versus the pew trust, peta, and so on. You have no idea the money and effort to stop all rec fishing that is going now. The shark they will consider dead. The jewfish picture proves how easy they are to catch and what will happen if the "rec" people are allowed to harvest them for food. Although they are eating everything in sight.

You are obviously new to fishing here and proud of your catch. Good for you. Think it through.

I want to comment more on this but fear I would violate many of the rules of this fine forum. I'm all for conservation of earth and wildlife, but we must be sensible about it like anything else in life. To often lately the "sense" seems to be hard to find when it comes to conservation or other matters.

Hiding, and not standing up for our rights at rec fisherman are why we are where we are. The only conservation that is pushed here is the kind that helps tourism. The FWC is welcome to join me and my family on the beach anytime they would like, and they have more than a few times. The only thing I enjoy more than the shark "conservation" is Tarpon, you cant keep them unless you pay the state $50 lol.

I saw that white giving those boys the jaws treatment, that is a once in a lifetime experience I would love to enjoy!!

well said kyd, I get very angry about the " how dare you " crowd. To often they're actually transplants/newcommers that no nothing about the things they are so against. The nerve I can be opinionated myself, but I would not dare to try to tell someone how or what to do,because "I" think they're wrong or stupid, unless they came from, fill in the blank, and think that's how "we" did it "there", and so should you now that I'm "here" The fish better watch out when you start fishing from a boat!!, you and your family will be formidable opponents!! good luck and please post more pics when you get them!! PS I think you can fish all you want, but you'll not have a better catch than your lovely wife

Those two are by far the best catches, even when she out fishes me lol. She always gets the best baits, and gear if momma's happy I get to fish all I want lol

We use them in Germany as a bait to catch the real big ones...
