I have looked athte iboats prices, and it may be time to snag a 4 blade as skis and tubes are becoming more common for us.

Anyway, I have checked here and the solas website(which is not very good at all) but still have questions. What is the difference between the Amita4 and the Rubex4? Are they the same blade design, but add a removable hub for the Rubex?

I have heard nothing but good for the Amita4, but nothing about the rubex4, and I want the replaceable hub.

Re: Solas props

I have had both... I got the Amita 4 last year after ordering the rubex. I ordered from Getaprop and received a call stating that they had not yet received the Rubex and recommended the Amita "it is the same prop - the only difference is the hub" I agreed and the amita worked great... until I hit a rock last month. I looked back and ordered the same part# that I did last year. When the rubex arrived I remembered the switch! Put it on and it behaves the same. Same holeshot, top speed and WOT rpm. Guess they are the same.

Now to get the bent one repaired!

Re: Solas props

I was ust looking for confirmation that the blade design was the same. There is less than $20 difference between the amita and the rubex - I would rather have the removable hub.

I didn't see anything on their website, where are Solas props made?

Re: Solas props

It says made in Taiwan on the box.

Thats why, I decided some time ago, that I'm better off keeping my U$A where I work and live and since I started doing that, even though I sometimes pay more, I noticed that the quality more than makes up the difference and if I need to talk to customer service, I can!

Re: Solas props

USA vs china vs mexico vs etc is a topic for another thread.

I have already decided (if I don't sell the boat ) that the amita4 will be my next prop. All I wanted to know was if the rubex4 ws the same design, just with the added benefit of a replacable hub.

This should be intresing..ive seen you post many times on the hustler...May i be so intrusive as to ask what performance you get out of a ss prop. I believe your boat is 20 degree deep v..is that so?

Re: Solas props

So for clarification:
The Rubex prop has the removeable hub and the Amito has a built in hub?
I'm thinking of getting one as a spare.

YES........suggest using a flat thrust washer with the Amita and the proper stepped thrust washer for the Rubex.

Re: Solas props

TG - yes the deadrise is 20deg. I have never run a fixed SS prop. I have run a shifting prop (quicksilver power2 pitch 17-23) but is a solid hub so it only got run in "good" water. It was also a fairly large dia that hurt holeshot even at 17" pitch.

My holeshot is actually better with my 21" hustler, but once on plane that power2 would plant you in the seat 'till the shift at 48-4900rpm. I scored a power2 15-21 body on ebay for next to nothing, but haven't tried it yet. I also have scavenged a pile of torqueshift parts, but haven't put one together yet - not even sure I have a complete set of good cams.
