Hi, I am looking at buying A Solas Amita aluminum prop for my boat. (Solas Amita #2411-133-17 Aluminum Boat Propeller) My boat has a old michigan prop on it now, I was wandering if any one has used a Solas Amita aluminum prop or not, and if they are a good prop to buy, or if I am better off spending more money and getting another michigan prop (011003) Thanks for any info.

Re: Solas Amita #2411-133-17 Aluminum Boat Propeller

First off I should state that I own a 1990 Seaswirl 18' cuddy with a 4.3L v6 OMC cobra outdrive. I had a 4 blade Solas Amita 14.5x17 on my boat when I bought it. Ran 34mph top speed (GPS) at just under 4,000RPM. It was ok out of the hole but with several adults took a while to plane out. Top speed could have been better in my opinion too. I don't trust many of the gauges on my boat but that's a whole other topic.

Over the holiday weekend I took a chunk out of one blade on a rock so had to purchase a new prop. Went with a 4 blade Solas Amita 14.25x19. Took my top speed up to 42mph (GPS) and brought RPMs (again I'm suspect of the gauge accuracy) to 4,200. The hole shot was improved as well.

In short I am happy with both props and for the price feel the brand is a great bargain. It was cheaper for me to buy a new prop than to have mine reconditioned. Hopefully this helps.

Good value and performance. I purchased a Solas Amita - 13.25 x 17 last year as a replacement for my Michigan wheel 14 x 17. The change in performance and top end speed was impressive. I will purchase another when the time arrives...
