Soft Boat Launch sites

I didn't no if I should create a new thread or add to the other one
I found this out yesterday and it opens up a whole new area of exploration for anybody with a soft boat
The difference between small boat and soft boat is that.
Soft boat is any boat that can be carried in or on top of a car.

There are Kayak / Canoe launch facilities that we are allowed to use.
They don't show up on the regular small boat launch list

There is also a site that shows kayak / canoe launch sites by state and better still
Shows trips and routes for anyone with a kayak or inflatable to explore

The site is Every Trail
You can use any state from the list but I chose Maryland as my state to try out

You have to filter by activity once you pick your state.
For activity select. Kayak/canoeing

I just found a place within 5 miles of my house that I never new was there.:D
In fact I just came back from there. I plugged the coordinates into my GPS so I can always get back to it.
It is the river that keeps flooding my yard. It is great because it empties right into the bay
Now I can take my boat out anytime. Yippie

Be careful I know (direct from Ranger or signs posted at site) here in NY many of the kayak/ canoe launch sites expressly forbid inflatables or any boat propelled by a motor. I checked the kayak launch at Orchard Beach lagoon (which would allow me access to Western Long Island Sound) and it is Def a no go.

Sinistre1, a little over from there, you have a launch in Glenn Island.

You will definitely make my day if you can tell me whereabouts or how to get to Glenn Island... in the interim I will do some internet searching and see if I can find it myself. I would LOVE to be able to launch on that part of the sound and maybe make my way over to port Washington!!! Some of the best porgy fishing spots are on that side of the sound and I love porgies... inflatable boat deflating spines and all! lol.BTW, is the Glenn Island launch a KNOWN inflatable friendly launch site??

Well looks like a case of good news/ bad news... it is in fact a car top/ inflatable friendly launch... but you have to be a Westchester County resident to get the pass that allows you to launch there!!!! The site says it is not transferable nor can it be used by anyone there than the resident named :(

Hey Sin,
This is true about the Westchester thing... on paper. But truth is nobody ask or checks. You pay to park and there is parking for boat launching separate. Truth is if you go with the state of mind that you simply did not know... worst case scenerio, after a month or 2 of boating, and somebody by some miracle chance of bad luck ask you, just say you did not know and they did not ask coming in. Give it a try i say. When you come in to pay parking, if they dont ask there, it is not your fault.

Man I feel your pain.
This is one of the only good things about living in the midatlantic area.
Almost everybody has some type of watercraft and the more people on the water. The more money they make.
For the people who can use the Kayak ramps, it is truely wonderfull.

Here is the new ramp that I am using
I found it on the Maryland Small Boat List

My goal is to go tomorrow around noon or after the rain stops and the temp hits 75
My return trip will be Saturday
The best part of all is that it's only 2 miles from my house

It is protected water that leads to the middle of the bay and Fort Mchenry
