I came across 2014 200 hp Yamaha 4-Stroke that went under. I am looking for a 200 for my Mako I'm about to buy and was wondering if it's worth a consideration? I'm confident in my rebuilding skills and have restored many large hp motors. Is it worth offering $1500 and seek after used harnesses a pack, or just don't bother?

Fan one grand in 50 dollar bills near the sellers face and see how he reacts to the cash temptation.. Any motor that went under and was not recovered in time will turn into a costly Pandora Motor to fix. Let the seller know all about such scenario, worse if went skin diving in salt water.

Yeah, kinda agree. Was thinking around 1.5. If I can stay within 5k to fix it, may be worth it to me.. Thank you

Absolutely no!!!!!!! That motor is worth scrap price. If it went under while it was running plan on new connecting rods. Lets be honest here what are you buying you already know the powerhead is junk. The electronics have been submerged probably bad. So what is left of that motor is the lower unit. A used lower is generally around $500-750. When you buy junk motors plan on it being the very worst case scenario. Do not overpay.

If you were going to spend 6500 on that wreck go a little older and get yourself a good motor.

Under water for 7 months, he may have well left it there, it's junk. You're doing the right thing by passing on it.

With 7 months unnder water the whole powerhead must be fully seized and unrecoverable...
