...the old 5.0 boat motor fired right up. I turned on the water, shot a little gas down the Holley 4bbl and hit the key. It lit right off and ran at a smooth high idle. I was ready for the worst.

Last summer was so anemic that I never got the boat out. Now with a heat wave starting up (95? in the PNW is a heat wave) I'll be taking the boat out on the mighty Columbia with all the other idiots, probably!

That is all too true robt.

btw, my daughter spent a year at Bob Jones a few years back. I went back to visit her over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was freezing cold so we took a drive down to Hilton Head to warm up. It was so unseasonably cold down there that the visitors were half of normal for that time of year. It was sure a gorgeous place, though. I hadn't seen such splendor since I left the Newport CA area.

We also took a little trip up to NC to see the Battle of Cowpens site. Although I knew Cowpens to be a Revolutionary War battle site, I never new the story of it. It made you proud to see how the Americans whipped the British along with their meanest and most brutal General.

A great visit, it was, to your neck of the woods.

Oh, and if you ever get down to Hilton Head, be sure to have a dinner at Marley's, if it is still there.

edit: I just googled it. It is still there. A great place with great atmosphere.

It's just too hot out to be scrubbing hulls. I would do it in the water except that I have to keep my injured leg out of the water. I'll have a neighbor help me launch the boat, though.

Understand that. By the way, when you were in Hilton Head you weren't too far from me. I work just out of Savannah, we are right off the East end of the Airport runway, I live about 30 min South.

Yeah, we made a quick trip down into Savannah on that trip, as well. I remember all the fireworks stands near the border. I think they were on the SC side. They must not be legal in GA?

At that time they were not legal, some are now legal in Ga but not all.
