Spent quite a bit of time down there over the years. Gone down hill over the last 10 years or so.

good to know - it appears to be very tropical, surrounded by some decent neighborhoods but some crime as well, ie, you have gated neighborhoods, houses etc , I like the weather though :)

Brazil is a country of haves and have nothing.
The houses are gated for a reason

We had an office in Sao Paulo for a number of years. Spent a lot of time in Ipatinga and Santos (below) as well.

First time I had seen families (Squatters) living under "tin houses" right next to a high rise apartment with a heliport....

Out my hotel window the last time I was there.... a week before xmas

It's crazy how such beautiful countries (and states - I only missed 8) have only Rich and poor and not much in between and crazy crime, I used to go to parts of Mexico when I was younger, I woulnt set foot in some of those places anymore. Thanks for the pic :)
