I have a 2005 90hp johnson 4-stroke that when you start it sometimes there will be is a big cloud of blue smoke. Doesn't do it all that often but enough to make me wonder what the heck is going on. Runs great and don't seem to use any oil. Any help on this? Thanks a bunch.

Typically when you have a four stroke motor smoking blue at startup, it is because there is oil leaking into a cylinder past a worn valve guide seal. Don't know specifically about that outboard.

give this a try. when not using the motor, store with the motor tilted up a little. this will keep crank case oil from seeping passed the piston rings and into the combustion chamber. good luck!

When is the last time you changed oil and are you using the correct weight(10W40)?
