I have the 240 EFI M2 engine in my Seadoo Utopia jet boat. It runs great, but it smokes like crazy! I did a compression test and the 1,3 & 5 cylinders are on average 135#, the 2,4 & 6 cylinders are on average 125#. I think the port bank is a little low, but I don't think it would be the rings causing it. Seems to me the possibility of the smoke coming from a bad cylinder would be obvious, but with the compression kinda evened out, I wouldn't think that was my problem. What do you think?
Anyone got any ideas? The engine runs great, just smokes really bad.
Thanks for any and all help!.........
BTW, right now I got the oil pump off checking the "O" rings, thinking if the seal is bad, the oil could be bleeding into the crankcase.

Re: Smokey 240 EFI?

Thanks for the link. I have a shop manual on this motor and have been looking over the oil injection system, thinking that some or all of my problem is probably coming from it. The compression, although it varys a little from the port side to the starboard, isn't bad enough to warrant a rebuild.
Thanks for the help and I'll be checking back for any updates and if I solve the problem, I'll let everyone know!

Out of curiosity. Does the engine smoke from startup, or only once it's warmed up a little. I'm thinking excess oil+crud in the exhaust that might smoke when the exhaust heats up?
