Hello, as i have already told you at other post i just swap engine in my boat and put the new 350mag mpi alpha one without DTS and also changed all the gauges with the smartcraft system tach sc1000 and systel link. I want to ask you what is exactly the troll control....till now i thought that this is something like cruise control at the cars.....and i think that this is only compatible and applecable with the DTS engines.Am i right? So there is no application of the troll controll at my engine/drive package and so i must disable it from the smartcraft gauges calibration menu....
Am i right? Thank you very much.

I do not think you have it, But if you do have it then here is some info on how to engage the Troll Control.
Press either the Troll+ or Troll- buttons. That brings up the display on your gauge. Then press the MODE button and that will engage it. You can then vary the speed up or down using the Troll buttons To disengage it, press the MODE button again. or move your throttle to a different postion or into neutral.

Do you have a SmartCraft service manual???

Re: Smartcraft Troll control?

The smartcraft gauges support troll control. And when i press the + or - button of the tacho, the troll control display pops up and shows the desired rpm(rpm range 500-800rpm). If i had DTS i can realise that the engine would speed up or slow down but now that i do not have dts, i suppose that the rpm will be according my throtle position. So practically what the troll control is?

Re: Smartcraft Troll control?

if your engine has the PCM555 ECU then it has troll control capeabilities.
however its only good from about 650 RPM to about 1100 RPM in 50 rpm increments.
due to the fact that its a TROLLING speed not a running speed and EFI motors are rather touchy on the throttle at low speeds and some customers are nuts. :)
the ECU will play with IAC opening, timing and injector pulse width to alter engine speed when trolling. any movement of the actual throttle will disengage troll control as will deselecting troll control.
I just hope the modern DTS and flyby wire motors are not built by toyota.
and there is just such a recall with Volvo.

Re: Smartcraft Troll control?

My engine has the ECM555 ,not PCM as it is NON DTS. So it has not the troll control capabilities, right? So i shall disengage it from the smartcraft calibration menu.(probably cal1 menu of the sc1000 system), as it will have no effect to my non dts engine. Am i correct?

PCM, ECM its all alphabet soup but the PCM555 and smart craft should be able to use the troll function, just remember its strictly for adjusting trolling speed and NOT a cruise control.
with the engine idling in gear you should be able to adjust the trolling speed with the tach in a very limited range. cant remember the max but I think its less than 1000 RPM.
