Hello all, this is my first post only because I didn't get the detailed information I needed by searching the forums.
I have a 2004 MerCruiser 5.0 MPI (SmartCraft compatible) and I have installed the SC1000 system speedo and tach with the SC100 link gauges. All of them are hooked up in my boat and are functioning beautifully. However I would like to connect the System speedometer to a GPS via the blue &white NMEA 0183 wires. The problem is I cannot find a GPS antenna style receiver which has the older NMEA 0183 ver 1.5 or 2.0. All of them these days have NMEA 0183 ver 3.0 or later which you may know that this gauge is not compatible with. I am hoping someone here has done this or knows what needs to be used. I have pretty much decided that price is not an object so throw ideas at me.
I thought about trying the 8M0065207 gateway stick and going with NMEA 2000. Still I am not sure this will get the speed and time of day readings onto my SC1000 system speedo. Also I do not have a GPS unit and I do not particularly want one. I care nothing about getting my engine readings onto a GPS screen. All I want is to get this gauge to work on a GPS signal. That is the only goal and I pretty much don't care how much it cost. It's driving me crazy. :mad-new:
