I noticed behind my dash that there was a harness that was not plugged in to anyting. I will take a photo of it the next time I am out. If the harness is there is all I need to do is plug in a smartcraft gauge and it will work or does it require some type of ECU upgrade?

Your PCM and wiring harness is set up for it, but you will need the CAN harness and other items shown in the instruction sheet Fun Times posted. Page 9 of those instructions give you the PN. Make absolutely sure to put the term. resistors as shown, and get caps for all unused ports on the junction box.
