Hello:

Repowering from a 225 Johnson to 225 Mercury (2004) EFI Saltwater.

It is supposed to be smartcraft capable.

I can get a SC1000 monitor for about $150 bucks, I have the following questions:

1. Will this work on my boat?
2. What guages will this replace? I currently have a tach, trim, voltage. The speedometer is not connected to the engine.

3. What cabling would I need and where can buy it (part#, etc.)

All help will be appreciated.

Thansk in advance.

Re: Smartcraft Question

To my knowledge only the 4 strokes and DFI(Optimax)engine are smaftcraft compatiable, not the EFI series

Re: Smartcraft Question

yes!! it will work. you will need a "c.a.n" back bone cable with two terminator resistors to run from your motor to the sc1000. if tou want to use the sc1000 for trim display, you will have to change your trim sender on the motor from an anologe to a 3-wire digital sender. you may need a harness to hook the new digital sender to the motor(it has the 3 wire connection for the sender). the sc1000 will give you:rpm, volts, eng. temp, eng. hrs.,fuel flow(gal. per. hr.),eng. warning info.(low oil, over heat, senser falt),water presure(if your motor has a press. sender). any merc. dealer can sell you the parts. they are also avalable (along with tec support) at shortsmarine discount parts. just e mail them with motor info. and ser#. good luck!

Re: Smartcraft Question

check out my thread "how to install a smartcraft system" It has all the info and P/N's you require. Make sure you read it all, some newer p/n's are near the back.
