I have a small water/oil leakage out of the flywheel, I recently put new headgasket and exhaust gasket on and the oil is not milky, looks normal getting good compression, I don't know if this is normal for boats, it is not enough leakage but still a concern. Any ideas?

No this is not normal. Is it constant?

Have you had water and oil build up in the bilge?

then it may have got into the flywheel housing, and will eventually stop.
DHP

Re: small water leakage out of flywheel..

i also had water come out of where the starter goes into the flywheel housing on a 140 mercruiser 1986 when i fired her up for the first time this season, then when i gave it throttle more came out. i started it again the next day and no water at all. i thouhgt i blew the freeze plugs. is that possible to get so much water in the flywheel housing? please advise.. thanks..

Yes I recently had a oil cooler leak, one of the gaskets/copper tube came off... but it's been awhile, about two boat trips, had water up to the oil pan. I have water build/oil build up in bilge. In cars the oil leakage usually means rear main, but it actually looks like water and I am not loosing any oil, is it coming from the transom?I dont' know....

The flywheel is probably picking up bilge water, so a drier bilge would be important. I found from experience that water kicked up by the flywheel can also ruin the starter when water gets in through the bendix gear.
