Small oil lower port on NS40C lower unit

I have a NS40C outboard I bought from a fellow along with a boat. It did not come with an owners manual.
I have drained the lower unit and am trying to refill it. The lower oil port is smaller than the upper and I cannot find a filler nozzle small enough to screw into the lower port to pump oil into the lower unit. Can anyone suggest where I might find a nozzle that will fit or some other way to fill the lower unit?

Welcome aboard.

Didn't your lube pump come with a metal adapter fitting? That's what you need.

Yep both lower leg oil plugs should be identical. Here's what you need, it's a Tohatsu/Nissan 8 to 9 mm diam thread adapter.

Check if Iboats sells them. If not, check West Marine under manual oil pump adapters, bought mine moons back. To prevent oil spills once finished pumping, check if there's available a tip grommet to screw on the 9 mm diam thread.

Happy Boating

Thanks for the help all who replied. I have to humble myself and admit that I completely missed the mark on this question. The diagram that pvanb provided and his narrative solved my problem. I was looking at the cam rod bushing stopper thinking it the drain. My bad. Thanks for straightening me out. The advice solved my problem. Next up: acquire an owners manual.
