I noticed a small 1/2 inch crack on the outside edge of the anticaviation plate just below and forward of the trim actuator. Can I just stop drill the crack then sand it down and fill with JB Weld or Marine Tex, then repaint or does it need to be welded. If welded can it be done without stripping out the gear case since it is well away from the gear housing? Thanks
