I have a 1997 Sea Ray 240 Sundancer with a Mercruiser 200hp and she is a slow starter. I run the boat about 15 hours per week and it usually takes 10 to 15 muniutes to warm up. It putters and spits if I don't wait until the temp is at 170 degrees. I run the blower while we load the boat at the ramp for a good 5 to 10 minutes and then sometimes have to idle or use choke for until temp climbs to 120..Is this normal for a Mercruiser? Is there any other starting method that would help?? I unload from the trailer and then wait around 10 to 15 minutes to idle away from the ramp..Ant help is appreciated.

Re: Slow Starter???

IT could be that your choke is set too tight and does not release until the engine is quite warm. This will bog down performance and flood the engine.

TMD
