hi all.
last year i rebuild carb in my motor.
put needle seat(nylon) in slow spped circuit, new oring on needle.
motor runs good,
start to adjust slow speed in 1.5 turn out
but when i try to adjust slow speed needle i just turn in the needle, wait few second and turn in more but and motor is not geting high rotation.in some point start to dying so i just turn back the needle.

in last weekend i adjusted 4.5 Evinrude for my friend.
and staring point in 1.5 turn out and slowly turn in the needle to look for the best setup
and in his motor i could feel the point when motor gets higher rotation just before he wants to die.
i'm thinking why in my motor i cant find this point when motor gets high rotation

That "1.5 turns out" is just a starting point. Since no two motors are exactly the same, yours may require a bit more fuel (by turning the needle valve out more than the 1.5 turns).

Turn the needle IN until it starts to stumble and then turn the needle out until the RPM goes to its highest point.

With the slow speed, your looking for the slowest speed with out motor dieing. High speed jet takes over when wot occurs. So working between throttle and low speed jet, get it to the lowest idle in gear you can without engine dieing. Once that is done, turn low speed jet screw out 1/4 turn and leave it there. Presto!!! That's it! Post back and let us know how you make out!

Re: slow speed needle adjustment-9.9 Johnson 83'

hi.
i put new oring on slow speed needle.
this oring is very tight, so screw in slow speedd needle is a litle bit tight also.
but slowy i could screw in needle , until i could feel needl just seat in.
so , 1.5 turn out.
motor starts, run, so i started plying to find best set up,
screv in so, motor starts to die, so screv out but still no speed up.
after plying with this i got strange symptoms.
motor runs but die,to restart i need to pull choke out.
i decided to put apart the carb and soak in acid and blow compresed air.
today i putback carb and run motor.
motor runs good but not good as schould.
last year i rebuilt the carb but i put needle seat(carb kit contain this part, but it isnt om carb diagram)
i decided to take it out.
and plug slow speed chamber alaso.
tmorow i'm going to plug back, and see what hapens
What for is this needle seat?
it isnt on carb diagram, but kit contains this part?

i took out welsh plug from slow speed chamber.
took out thies slow speed bushing/seat/.
reasembled carb and motor runs good.
i think this bushing is only if hole for tip of slow speed needle is oversized or worm.
when i put in this bushig and later i played with needle, nylon bushing gets folded or melted
