Had great difficulty cleaning a Tohatsu 80 slow jet, was pretty much internally clogged and OB missing. So soaked it in Acrylic Thinner for 6 hours inside this plastic container, removed jet and Inserted it on container's tip, being full of thinner squeezed it hard, repeated this filling squeezing procedure several times. Use a proper container to collect sprayed thinner through jet to refill and re use it again.

Just in case applied 1/4 can of carb cleaner through the container neck and attached slow jet at extreme. The red cannula holds tight being container tip same diam as cannula. The issue is that if you spay carb cleaner through middle jet, there will be to much product waste at sides. This is a much better cleaning procedure while saving sprayed product.

Creativity has no limits, now carb is working as it should and OB purring as a lovely kitten at idle...

My idle jet on Honda 8hp clogs at times. I find that a floss threader (any drug store has them) works well to push up the center passage. Split the loop part of the threader and the thin plastic is stiff enough to push through the hole, and I assume is too soft to damage the jet. This may not work if really badly clogged/varnished.

Assume you don't run carb dry after use specially if OB won't be used for say one week or more. Run my 3 OB's carbs dry after each use and haven't had any internal clog of any kind since 1996 nor replace any internal part that turned out bad or even a complete carb kit.

Nope, I do run it dry by disconnecting the fuel hose and idling until it dies. I don't drain what's left in the bowl though.

Some say that if running carb dry till engine dies will still have some fuel leftovers on bowl, if wanting to run the carb extremely dry, when engine is about to die, pull choke out/in while throttling grip half way, continue this procedure several times till engine drops dead. If running carb dry why does the idle jet on your Honda keeps clogging ?

I can try that. I have never figured out why it clogs. I have pretty new fuel lines and a fairly new filter and I use Stabil in each tank.
