Does the SLOW feature on this motor disable your spark or timing.

I have read that it can limit you to 2500 rpms, and I am wondering if I am in SLOW mode and don't know it, and have been trying to get my timing right.

We did the diode test like the manual suggested, and it seemed to check out OK. We only had contonuity one way from each temp wire.

Thanks,

Slow limits your rpm by making all the cylinders stumble. You might want to disconnect both temp sender wires and try it. Also ground out the black/white wire as this takes it out of slow. If you can't get above 2500 after doing this you may have a bad pack. Do you have an OEM factory service manual?

once you trun off the motor(key switch) and the motor cools below about 200 degrees, SLOW is deactivated...so once you restart the motor, you are no longer in SLOW mode, UNTILL you over heat again!!!

we do have a factory service manual. we cant get the timing to advance high enough and can't figure out why. I have another thread about the timing issue. we just had a idea maybe it was stuck in slow mode. We had read that if an alarm does go off you can damage the diode.
