Sloppy Lower Unit question?

I have a 1993 Evinrude 200 and I noticed that the prop when installed moves in and out of the lower unit housing about a half inch, the prop nut is secure so the entire shaft is moving in and out, is this normal? Thanks in advance cause this is probably a "dumb question"

Sounds like you got some wear in the lower unit. Could be a bad thrust washer but it should be taken apart to find out what it is. 1/2 " is to much.

It's normal for them to have a LITTLE end play. 1/2 inch is probably a bit much.

In agreement with the above members. If you're sure about that 1/2" quote.... time to dismantle the lower unit to find out why.
