Hello,

I just swapped an outboard on to my 1984 Winner. Everything mounted great, but there's about a 1/3" of play in the steering rod in the tilt tube. The steering cable nut ins all the way crewed into the tilt tube.

Can I add washers to remove the slop? or do I just have the wrong cable? would the be an issue if just shimmed it?

In the two pics you can see how the steering cable/rod can move inside the tube.

I would appreciate some advice/ guidance!

Probably an issue with the tilt tube install. Betting there's an excess amount of tilt tube sticking out the other side. Hopefully it's not bound up, and you can back the nut off on the other side enough allow the tube to be pulled through to the side you need the extra threads.
