Shure, but pulling/banging on the inner race damages the bearings. Are you replacing them?

No just the seal Im getting water in the gear case but I think it from the top but if changing the top doesn’t stop it will have to do the bottom but I see videos of people trying to remove the drive shaft bearings housing assembly and its a horror stories
Hope not cause I need to change the seal in there and there is no outboard repair shop here for a hundred milles
Thanks for your advise

The propshaft bearing carrier simply pulls out with a slide hammer ( 1/4 threaded rod ) and will not damage bearings in any way !----Or 2 pieces of threaded rod and a strong back will do it.

Yeah, I misread the post. The carrier does come out without damaging the bearings. Spray plenty of knocker loose in there to help loosen corrosion. I've had two over the years that broke removing them. Did several hundred of them though. A little heat on the case don't hurt either.

I can’t afford to break it
It’s discontinued and the one that’s in there does look at all like the one in the part diagram would be very hard to replace or the one in it is a replacement part hard to tell when one book tell you this and another book tell you that!!!
And everyone on video that shows them removing it doesn’t look at all like mine but look like the same part as Crowley Marine

There is not much load on the bearing carrier.----Those tabs hold it in position.-----No difference in pulling it out compared to any other carrier.

Try----evinrudeparts.ca------And others online .-------They clearly show the tabs.------Perhaps you have the wrong service manual too.

???-----The anode was removed or left out.------Just remove the carrier bearing housing.-----Simple in my opinion unless it is a salt water motor.

It going to be driving in both fresh and salt water….so that part doesn’t hold a seal it just protection for the seal?
Can I run safely without it?
If not I will buy that part
The last owner did run without it the shaft was full of carbon crud where that part is supposed to be
The boats from NFD could be a salt water motor
Thanks for your reply

It is an anode !-----Provides protection from corrosion.-----It may require some effort to remove the bearing carrier ( seal housing ) as it appears there has been corrosion.
