slabs, slabs, SLABS!

I live in central Texas. I am trying to get the hang of slabing. I have purchased several colors of Bomber slabs. I try to look for fish concentrated under the boat at a given depth. At times the depth finder will go nuts showing massive numbers of fish and I pull and pull with no results. How deep will the white bass and hybrids school to make these slabs effective and what is the technique?

mhanewich, when you find the mass of baitfish, the larger predator fish will be below the bait....trick is to let slab go to bottom, then reel up about 2 cranks. From there move the rod upward in a brisk motion, but not as if you are setting the hook, just a smooth, quick pull-here's the key-follow the slab back down without letting the line go completely slack, but you don't want to stop it either. The fish will hit as it's falling 99% of the time, and if you stay in contact slightly, you will feel the hit-drive'r home at that point. If the line is slack on the way down, they "feel and release" the slab before you even have a chance to set the hook.
Keep at it, it's a VERY effective means for whites, stripers, and the hybrids........ :)
A slab is just that...A slab of lead, wire thru the middle with a hook on one end, and line tie on the other, and usually banana shaped. Very effective deep water applications........ :)
