I have a ProCraft bass boat and I am thinking about making my own pylon. I was going to use 1" square tubing and at the bottom of the upright I am going to weld a end from a seat pedestal and stick it in the back deck were the seat goes do you think this will work or do you think it will pull out

It will work until you use it. It will also become an outstanding projectile when you have a load on the rope and someone lets go or falls. I would suggst you spend the money on a pylon/strap system instead of making your own. It may keep from splitting open your head with a 5+ lbs steel rod, or busting up your rear deck from the force of a tube/skier pulling on it.

Re: Ski Pylon

So if I make an upright coming out of my seat base with black steel, two braces welded to it runnin back to each corner of the transom were there bolted in just like the ones you can buy its not going to work? Just doesnt make sense how it would be that dangerous. The only thing differnt to mine than the one you can buy is Im making so the bottom will go in my seat pedestal base rather than putting a base on it and having to bolt it in

Re: Ski Pylon

Do a search on home made ski pylon on this forum or the wakeboarding one, or search under my user name and you will see how I did mine. Works great!
