I have a 1999 Charger 19' boat with a 225 EFI Mercury. The boat has a big set-back plate, 12" I think. The boat is currently running a 28 pitch chopper II prop with over the hub exhaust. In this configuration the boat has a hard time pulling skiers out of the water. I tried a regular 3 blade 25 pitch prop with through-hub exhaust but the boat just cavitated like crazy and wouldn't get up on plane. The motor looks to be pretty high relative to the bottom of the boat but with the set-back plate it is as far down as it will go. Does anybody know what I need to do to set this boat up better for water skiing? Ideally I would like to be able to switch back to the chopper prop for high speed performance.
