Skegguard installation

I received my Skegguard delivery today and am considering installation options since I'm a little uneasy about drilling holes in my 2yr old outboard.

Therefore, I was thinking about filling the skeguard cavity with 3M 5300 marine adhesive to hold it onto the skeg. Is there any reason why this alternative wouldn't work?

Helpful advice appreciated.

Follow SkegGard's instructions. . .exactly.

They know more than anyone about how to do it right.

Skegguard is installed.....

I actually did both; 5200 sealant and drilled the holes. I figured the 5200 wouldn't hurt anything and am confidnet between the two it won't come off.

JB, thanks for the input.

Kevin

Better yet, it'll prevent freeze swelling from water that collects inside. There's a drain hole, but it clogs eventually and water stays in there. As it freezes and thaws and freezes again, it swells the SkegGuard. I'd have done the same thing using any cheap silicone. Not so much for bonding but for filling the gaps and preventing the above.
