Hi all, The skeg on the 76' 75hp stinger I'm working on has been damaged and it's been ground down a lot by some previous owner. I've been looking online for one of those SS replacements that just slip over whats left and you bolt it on. I'm not having any luck finding any manufacturers that list my engine. I tried Skeguard and Skegshield with no luck. Anyone know where I could find one or am I going to have to try to make something myself? Thanks

I had the same problem when my tilt/trim went out....Lowered the motor while going 70mph...I didn't have much of anything left...I went on ebay and get a replacement skeg. I took it to a guy I found on Craigslist who could weld aluminum problem solved...he even shaped it better then it came.

Most prop repair shops can weld a new skeg on. Myself, I have no use for those slipcover things. The repair shop may even install the later swept skeg on your case

Well, found a replacement skeg for $35 and the welder wants the LU off with the oil drained and $100 to weld it. I think I'm going to get some heavy sheet alum and fabricate my own slip on replacement and save a bunch of money.
