I broke some of my skeg off and I was looking into getting a skegguard for it but I have not seen any parts for a 9.9 Yamaha. Can you get skeggaurds for the small size?
Thanks

Man, I am suprised as well that nothing comes up for small outboards. I think I would get a peice of scrap metal and make on though before I paid $100 for one. Need to find an old good stainless steel sink and get to bending and cutting.

That's not a bad idea but I'm pressed for time and don't feel safe using this motor until there is protection for the prop. I have searched for any type of guard and cannot find one for a 9.9, strange.

I guess no one has any options for this small displacement as I can find nothing on the net. I got a quote to weld my skeg back on and finish it for $130. This is close to the price of a guard so I'm going for the reweld.

maybe when they reweld they can give you a little extra.
I think small motors don't have them b/c they aren't dealing with great force when they need it. If you are running in shallow water a lot, unlock the tilt, and just be mindful of it when you need to reverse.

Same problem here with a Johnson 9.9 hp. Same welding cost. I would have prefered a skeg guard that I could have installed myself.

Oups ... nope they want extra to take the lower unit off prior to welding. I am taking advantage of this to have them change the water pump. (or whatever it's called)
