single or dual motors

getting ready to move up to a bigger boat 27 or 29 footer ,but don't know which way to go single or dual motor,boat would be used just on finger lakes and ST. Larwence River. Thanks in advance for any advice.<br /><br />Phil

If you go the outboard route you will almost have to go for twins with the size boat you are thinking about. If inboard it might be a flip of a coin on going with a large block or two smaller motors. A single would be fine for a displacement hull diesel.<br /><br />I have a 23' with twin OMC SeaDrives & love it. More than once I have been able to get out on the water when one engine got sick rather than pulling the plug for the day.
