Are your fenders “naked”?
The tire fenders of your trailer may have had some kind of anti-skid material on them when your trailer was new, or maybe it didn’t. It could have been that real nasty sandpaper stuff or even more marine carpeting that was poorly glued to the top of each fender. Maybe it did or didn’t but, it sure should. We all use our fenders to either reach into our boat for loading and unloading or to help us climb up and in. Some trailer manufacturers build in diamond-plate or molded anti-skid into the top of their fenders. If your anti-skid is gone or never was there, here’s a simple fix.
SeaDek Step Kits are the perfect solution for slippery trailer fenders, steps, boat ladders, and a number of other applications. Each kit comes with four 3.5" x 12" pieces of 5mm thick, non-absorbent EVA foam material that provide excellent traction when wet or dry, and each piece is backed with 3M™ pressure sensitive adhesive to provide an easy peel-and-stick application. SeaDek Step Kits are available in a variety of colors. For this article, we picked a really bright blue and a nautical blue camo pattern to really stand out and to show you what’s available in stock shapes and patterns.
The SeaDek pads have super grip nubbies over softer backing material so you won’t slip when wearing shoes and won’t take skin off the bottoms of your bare feet.
The pads are “peel and stick” backed for quick and easy installation. The adhesive is “marine grade” which normally means you pay double for just the word “marine” but from SeaDek you don’t get “stuck”, you do get some of the best “stick” in the marine industry.
Custom shapes are also available. You can even have a particular logo custom cut into the pad.
