Can anyone give me information about where to launch my 15' Silverline so that we can cruise the river to the springs. Any recomendations or suggestions would be appreciated. We have never been there by boat...only as landlubbers at the park.
Hey Cap'n,
Are you talking about Silver Springs in Ocala Florida or Silver Glen Springs in Deland Florida.
I live in Jacksonville and have been to both, might be able to scare up some websites for ya, Let me know.
Hey cappy,
There used to be a small boat launch just off the main road through town, just down the waterway from where the glass bottom boats tour.
Haven't been there since completing flight school in pensacola back in 1987, a buddy of mine lived there and we took his dad's boat out on leave. Many moons and beers ago I'm afraid. Anyway here are some web sites with numbers down that way I'm sure someone can hook you up the info you need. Good luck.

www.silversprings.com
www.ocalafl.org (city page)
www.onf.net (ocala national forest) - Good info

IMHO silversprings has become a minature Orlando, very tourist trap like and expensive, if your looking to get off the beaten path the other springs on www.onf.net will show you a relaxing vacation at a fraction of the cost.
You can launch at Moss Bluff (Ocklawaha River) on rt 42 in Ocklawaha. Cost you $2. Go downstream to Silver Springs. There is a bait shop right near the launch that will give you exact directions.
Nice scenic ride and good bass fishing also if you are so inclined.
River is narrow and shallow at this point but no problem navigating.
It is my favorite local fishing hole.
