went out yesterday and caught a mess of silver seatrout. When we cleaned them up I noticed in some of them there were these yellow looking tubes in the meat. Are these ok or parisites anybody know?

Re: silver sea trout question

They are a parasite but once removed and the meat is cooked thoroughly they pose no threat.Real common for large black drum and red drum to contain them as well. They are mostly found near the tail end of the fillet. Not to worry. Most of what comes out of the water once cooked is quite edible.

Re: silver sea trout question

Silver (or white) trout are almost the exact same as a speckle trout. Minus the spots of course. The flesh is very similar and hard to distinguish as long as properly cared for. The seem to get "mushy" faster than speckle trout. Just be sure to ice them well before cleaning and you'll be good to go.

Best thing about White trout here in Louisiana is that there is no limit on them. Load up the freezer. Great table fare.

I've found that the best bait for white trout is cut white trout. Give it try. MJ
