Can anyone tell me what is included from Mercury with a new engine purchase?

My dealer says no prop is included... seems silly but OK.

Is a gas tank included?

Thanks!

Probably not as first of all it lowers the selling price making it more lucrative. Second prop determination is made at the time of purchase and varies so you can't have a set number in the price. Third a lot of the higher hp engines don't include fuel tanks because a lot of those installations, say 30 hp and above, are used on boats with built in fuel tanks.

No question is stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get it with props, so many ,boat and hull variables.... but with upgrading my engine would be nice to have a new tank included.
Unfortunately I didn't realize this was not the case...

The only new one I bought was a 1983 18hp Mercury and it came with a prop and 6-gal steel tank and line. The 30 Merc is made by Tohatsu,I believe.

Yep I believe it is a Tohatsu product. I've also read in several locations that the new Mercury comes with a 6 gallon plastic fuel tank, but not a propeller.

Would be nice if this could be confirmed.

May be just your dealer doing it that way to make the price appear lower for the motor. I bought a 17' 140 Mercruiser bow rider in '85 and the dealer set up added a lot more to the final price. Can Mercury Marine's site help you with this?
