What is the difference between OMC and Sierra electrical parts, such as power packs and coils? Is Sierra a quality product, I know that they are less expensive but are they cheap parts?

Jeff.

Sierra buys most of their parts from vendors. So, you can't make a blanket statement about their stuff. A coil probably is made by a different vendor than a power pack, for instance. Overall, their stuff is pretty good, although I've been disappointed by some of it too. BTW, our host iboats sells Sierra.

F_R thanks for the reply, I plan on buying from our host but there is a $40.00 price difference between CDI and Sierra on the power Pac and a price difference on the coils as well.

I was wondering if they were just less expensive or are they cheaper as in quality, you know what I mean?

Thanks Jeff.

tashasdaddy, thank you for the reply. Can you give me some insite as to why you prefer CDI over Sierra? If it is a quality issue I would rather pay the extra money and not need to worry about a part failure.

Thanks Jeff.

Re: Sierra V/S OMC?

I don't think I have found any better electrical parts than Rapair/CDI. Period.

I priced a CDI Stator last week, 184, OK.
Same Sierra stator through NAPA , ya sitting down? 549
I don't think I'll be getting anything other than my truck parts from NAPA

CDI is the way to go.
Napa is insane on some of the Sierra parts...I think they triple the price on some of the stuff.
Ebasicpower has great prices on CDI stuff too.
I priced a starter for a Cobra 351 at Napa...298 bucks for a rebuilt!
A new one at Ebasic was 147...

CharlieB thanks, yeah I agree about the NAPA deal. My Brother used to work for NAPA.

I think I will go with CDI for the security of a quality product, I don?t mind putting the money down for quality and reliability.
