so i have made up my mind to put side bunks on. I am going to build them my self. My question is how long should i make them? i have seen comerical one is both 2 ft and 5 ft. then i seen a set that was lit maybe 6in wide. my boat is only 17 foot long but i feel that they would realy help me out with my launch and retrieve as i am new to the game. any information here is greatly appreciated and many thanks

My boat came with these:

Not sure how long they are (4' maybe? It's an 18' boat). They are the greatest things ever. Launching and loading with this trailer is such a breeze.

Ayuh,... The trouble with side-bunks, Vs. Guide-on posts is,...
On really steep ramps, the side bunks can be to Deep to help...

That's Why I built Guide Posts for mine...
