I have a 1989 260 horse 5.7 Mercruiser with normal exhaust. The pipes exit the risers make a downward turn and go into a Y shaped collector before exiting the transom. My shutters are at the top of the Y.
I am trying to get a positive ID on the shutters because they jingle and I am replacing them over the winter while I go through the engine compartment.
They are oval shaped flat devices with a rubber (damaged) coating. They each ride in a pair of rubber grommets on a 3.25" long stainless pivot shaft. They are 4.5" long and 2.5" wide. Is there only one style that has the off center pivot?
Is this the part?
Sierra Part #18-2733. Which appears to be an aftermarket replacement for
Mercruiser 99370A2 Shutter. In sterndrives.com it says,
"This fits models with the shaft offset to one end.
Fits model 185 V6 262cid (1985-87), 185 V6 229cid (1983-84), 200 305cid V8 (1985-86), and others."
I think I have it right, but the pictures I have found appear to be out of proportion so I am looking for some experience here.
Than you from a newbie to Mercruiser care.
